Heat Pump Installation & Service

Efficient heating and cooling from one system.

A heat pump heats and cools your home with one system. Instead of burning fuel to make heat, it moves heat. In the summer, it pulls heat out of your home like an air conditioner. In the winter, it pulls heat from the outdoor air and brings it inside.

The U.S. Department of Energy notes that when properly installed, an air-source heat pump can deliver up to three times more heat energy to a home than the electrical energy it uses. That makes it one of the most efficient ways to heat and cool a home.

Is a Heat Pump Right for Your Home?

CAN A HEAT PUMP HANDLE A MINNESOTA WINTER?

Today's cold-climate models can. The U.S. Department of Energy says cold-climate heat pumps are designed to perform in temperatures as low as 5°F, and recommends looking for the ENERGY STAR Cold Climate label where temperatures regularly drop below freezing. For our coldest stretches, many Minnesota homes pair a heat pump with a gas furnace.

DUAL-FUEL SYSTEMS

A dual-fuel system pairs a heat pump with a furnace. According to the Department of Energy, the heat pump handles most of the heating in milder weather, and the furnace takes over when it gets colder. You get efficient heat for much of the year and the backup of a furnace when it counts.

DUCTED OR DUCTLESS

Already have ductwork? A ducted heat pump works with it. No ducts in an addition, a converted garage, or an older home? The Department of Energy notes that ductless heat pumps offer an efficient and flexible way to heat and cool homes without existing ductwork.

IS IT RIGHT FOR YOUR HOME?

It depends on your home, your current equipment, and your energy costs. If you're replacing an air conditioner or heating with electric baseboard, it's worth a conversation. The Department of Energy says today's heat pumps can reduce electricity use for heating by up to 75% compared to electric resistance heating like baseboard heaters. We'll give you honest numbers and let you decide.

MAINTENANCE, SERVICE & INSTALLATION

• Maintenance: a heat pump works year-round, so a yearly tune-up matters. We check refrigerant levels and look for leaks, airflow, electrical connections, defrost operation, and controls. Or join our Maintenance Membership so you never have to remember to call.

• Service and repair: not heating, not cooling, an outdoor unit that ices up and won't defrost, or strange noises. We find the cause and explain your options and the cost before any work starts.

• Installation: ducted or ductless, on its own or paired with your furnace, sized for your home and your budget, starting with a free estimate.

Locally Owned. Here When You Need Us.

• Small and family owned, not owned by private equity

• We're your neighbors, not a call center
