HVAC Zoning Systems
Every room comfortable, not just the one with the thermostat.
Is your upstairs too hot in the summer while the basement stays cold? Do you have a bonus room or addition that never quite keeps up? One thermostat can only measure one spot in your home, so every other room takes what it gets.
A zoning system fixes that. It divides your home into separate areas, or zones, each with its own thermostat, so you can heat and cool the rooms you actually use the way you like them.
Comfort in Every Room
HOW ZONING WORKS
Motorized dampers are installed inside your ductwork. A damper is a movable plate that opens or closes to send air where it's needed. When a zone calls for heat or cooling, its damper opens. When that zone is comfortable, the damper closes and the air goes to the rooms that still need it.

WHO BENEFITS MOST
Homes with more than one story, large open spaces, or rooms that always seem too hot or too cold are good candidates for zoning. That includes:
• Two-story and split-level homes
• Finished basements and bonus rooms over the garage
• Additions and sunrooms
• Households where people want different temperatures in different rooms

DO I NEED A NEW SYSTEM?
Usually not. In many cases, zoning can be added to the furnace, air conditioner, and ductwork you already have, and you don't need separate units. We'll look at your equipment and ductwork first and tell you honestly whether zoning makes sense for your home. How much you save depends on your home, how the system is designed, and how you use your zones.

NO DUCTWORK? DUCTLESS ZONING
If part of your home doesn't have ductwork, ductless mini-splits are another way to create zones.

MAINTENANCE, SERVICE & INSTALLATION
• Installation: we design your zones around how you actually live, install the dampers, zone control panel, and thermostats, and set everything up to work with your equipment, starting with a free estimate.
• Service and repair: a zone that won't heat or cool, a stuck damper, or a thermostat that doesn't respond. We find the cause and explain your options and the cost before any work starts.
• Maintenance: we check your dampers and zone controls during your yearly tune-up, or join our Maintenance Membership so you never have to remember to call.
